Organizational
Assessment and Development
An organization's competitive strength is directly linked
to its capacity for accurate self-assessment. In order to thrive,
an organization must be able to answer these questions: "What
are the essential characteristics of excellence for our company
if we expect to meet our goals and how do we measure up against
these qualities?" This kind of gap analysis-the foundation
for any successful change effort-involves identifying the challenges
and opportunities confronting an organization both now and in
the future.
LED's approach to organizational assessment both identifies
those areas of excellence that already exist and surfaces the
root causes impeding effective performance. Results are directly
translatable into action planning and implementation. Our clients
have found that this assessment is most accurate and effective
when input is gathered by our staff from a cross-section of employees
via survey and individual interviews, and reported back anonymously
to management. LED then works with the management team to develop,
communicate and implement a plan to address current and future
challenges and opportunities.
Staffed by Organizational Psychologists and business professionals
with Human Resources and line management experience, LED assures
its clients that the most current assessment methodologies are
applied in a realistic and practical fashion to bring about measurable
business improvements.
The basic steps for this assessment and diagnosis include:
Assisting client in defining problem and goals for our intervention
Contracting with client in terms of clear roles and responsibilities
of the client/LED team
Articulating the vision of excellence for the organization
and determining how achieving that vision will be measured
Gathering data - via interviews, focus groups and/or surveys
from a cross-section of employees encompassing all levels of
the organization, to determine performance strengths and gaps
Consolidating and analyzing the data, highlighting both success
stories and key areas for improvement
Providing preliminary action recommendations to build on
successes and address key challenges
Facilitating the management team and/or project task force
in developing a detailed action plan for ongoing performance
improvement
Providing ongoing coaching and consultation services to key
staff members to ensure smooth implementation of action plan,
address roadblocks, and deal with resistance
